Privacy, terms, cancellation and refunds
Privacy policy
This website collects only what is needed to provide counselling: your name, email address, phone number, city, preferred language, the counselling area you selected, your appointment times and the payment reference for your session.
Clinical notes are brief, written by Ami after sessions, and stored securely with access restricted to Ami alone. Notes are retained for the period required by professional practice standards and then destroyed.
No card or bank details are collected or stored on this website. Payment is made directly through your UPI app; only the transaction reference you enter is recorded.
Your data is never sold, rented or shared for marketing. Technical service providers used to run this website, send email, SMS and WhatsApp notifications and host the database process data strictly on instruction.
You may request a copy of your data, correction of it, or its deletion at any time by writing to therapywithami@gmail.com. Deletion requests are honoured except where professional or legal obligations require records to be retained.
Confidentiality and its limits
What you say in session stays between you and Ami. Nothing is disclosed to family, employers, insurers or anyone else without your written consent.
There are three standard exceptions. First, where there is a serious and imminent risk to your life or to someone else's. Second, where a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of harm. Third, where disclosure is required by a court or by law.
Wherever it is safe and possible to do so, Ami will discuss any such disclosure with you before it is made, and share only the minimum information necessary.
Sessions are never recorded by Ami. Clients are asked not to record sessions either, as it affects the safety of the space, particularly in couple and family work.
Terms of service
Counselling provided through this website is a psychological service. It is not a medical service, does not include prescribing, and is not a substitute for emergency or psychiatric care.
This service is not an emergency service. If you are at immediate risk, contact Tele-MANAS on 14416, AASRA on +91 98204 66726, or emergency services on 112.
Clients must be 18 or older to book for themselves. Sessions for children and adolescents are booked by a parent or legal guardian, who takes responsibility for consent.
Sessions run for 60 minutes from the scheduled start time. If you join late, the session still ends at the scheduled time so that the next client is not affected.
Ami reserves the right to decline or discontinue work where online counselling is not clinically appropriate — for instance active psychosis, severe eating disorders requiring medical monitoring, or acute suicidal risk. In such cases a referral to appropriate care will be offered and any prepaid fee refunded.
Abusive or threatening behaviour towards the therapist will end the session and the therapeutic relationship, without refund.
Cancellation, rescheduling and refunds
You may reschedule free of charge up to 24 hours before your session, using the manage-booking link in your confirmation email.
Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the session are refunded in full. Cancellations within 24 hours are refunded at 50%, because the slot cannot usually be filled.
If you do not attend and do not cancel, the fee is not refunded. If something serious prevented you attending, write in and it will be considered.
If Ami cancels for any reason, you receive a full refund or a priority rescheduled slot, whichever you prefer. The same applies if a technical failure at Ami's end prevents the session going ahead.
Refunds are issued to the UPI ID used for payment and typically reach you within 5 to 7 working days. Refund status is visible on your booking management page.
Communications
By booking, you agree to receive transactional messages relating to your appointment — confirmation, video link, reminders, reschedule and cancellation notices, and refund updates — by email, WhatsApp and SMS.
These are service messages, not marketing. You can ask for any channel to be switched off, and if you have privacy concerns at home, Ami can restrict communication to a single channel of your choice.
Any newsletter or article emails are separate, entirely optional, and can be unsubscribed from with one click.
