How online counselling with Ami works
From booking to your first session, everything happens on this website. Here is exactly what to expect.
In short
You book a slot between 12pm and 8pm IST, pay by Google Pay UPI, and receive a Google Meet link by email, WhatsApp and SMS. At your appointment time you open the link in your browser — no app, no account — and Ami joins the same Google Meet Session for 60 minutes.
1. Pick your slot
The booking page shows Ami's real availability, 12pm to 8pm IST, every day. Slots that are already taken or blocked do not appear. Choose the one that suits you and select your preferred language.
2. Tell Ami a little
A few lines about what is going on is enough. It is not an assessment form — it just means the first session starts from something rather than from nothing.
3. Pay with Google Pay
A UPI QR code and a unique reference are generated for your booking. Pay with Google Pay (or any UPI app), then enter the UPI transaction reference. Your slot is held while the payment is verified, usually within a few hours.
4. Get your Google Meet link
On confirmation you receive an email, WhatsApp message and SMS with your appointment time and a Google Meet link created for that booking alone.
5. Reminders
You get a reminder 24 hours before and again one hour before, each carrying the same link, so it is never buried in your inbox.
6. The session
Open the Google Meet link at your appointment time. Ami joins the same meeting. Sessions run a full 60 minutes; the last few minutes are used to agree what to work on before the next one.
What actually happens in session one
The first session is mostly about getting an accurate picture. Ami will ask what brought you here now, how long it has been going on, what you have already tried, and what your day-to-day actually looks like. Some questions cover history — family, health, sleep, past therapy — because context changes what will work.
You are never obliged to answer anything. If a question lands badly, say so; that itself is useful information.
By the end you should have a shared understanding of the problem, an idea of the approach Ami suggests, a rough sense of how many sessions it may take, and usually one concrete thing to try before the next session.
Getting the most out of a video session
- Use headphones — they improve audio and stop the session being overheard.
- Join two minutes early and check your camera and mic.
- Sit somewhere you can speak freely, even if that means a parked car.
- Keep water and tissues nearby; you may need both.
- Put your phone on do-not-disturb, and close work chat windows.
- Leave ten minutes after the session before your next commitment.
Rescheduling and cancelling
- Reschedule free of charge up to 24 hours before your session.
- Cancel more than 24 hours before for a full refund.
- Cancel within 24 hours and 50% is refunded.
- No-shows are not refunded, but do get in touch if something serious happened.
- If Ami ever has to cancel, you get a full refund or a priority slot.
Confidentiality
What you say stays between you and Ami. Notes are brief, clinical and stored securely. Nothing is shared with your family, employer or anyone else without your written consent.
The exceptions are the standard ones: a serious and immediate risk to your life or someone else's, a child at risk of harm, or a court order. Wherever possible Ami will discuss it with you before taking any step.
